Show More >>Ukrainian Muslims celebrated the Shitte Imam Mahdi Birthday which had always been a cause for one of the biggest celebrations. Participants say the concept of a Messiah is well known among different people of diverse belief and culture. A messiah is expected by all to come and deliver peace and justice which the mankind needs.
In Shia Islam, the belief in the Mahdi is a powerful and central religious idea. The Shitte Imam Mahdi will come at a time when the world brims of injustice, oppression and tyranny and will call people to the way of God. Imparting his observation the Iranian Ambassadorto Ukraine makes a special mention of Ukrainian Muslims that keep the traditions with diligence.
Among Ukrainian Muslims guests from variety of countries visited the festive event. Organizers say they have what to boast. Comparing to the last year's celebration, twice as more people came to praise Imam Mahdi in song.
Twelver Shia Muslims believe that the Shitte Imam is alive but has been in occultation, awaiting the time that God has decreed for his return. These believers say while waiting they will exert themselves to make a world a better place.
The holiday also shows how closely the destiny of the Muslims and the Christians is linked together. It is believed that the Shia Imam will come alongside Jesus Christ in order to fulfill the mutual peace bringing mission. Show Less >>
