Show More >>The technique used in this commercial is helpful to make the point but it takes the violence out of context. Context is emphasized here not to justify violence but to understand the complexity of causes and find appropriate solutions in each case. Wish there were good videos online that cover the variety of social and individual causes of family violence. Socialization and culture are certainly responsible but also are poverty illiteracy militarization and war. Some scholars suggest that domestic violence should be understood in terms of power and control. A durable solution would have take all these factors into account. It would also have to consider more subtle forms of emotional and physical violence that males also face in their families. Of course the family violence prevention services and hotlines could also be abused by individuals in some families. But that alone cannot be the reason to shun these services. There may be some real cases requiring genuine help. I personally think that these services should not be the first recourse for any kind of family violence. Efforts should be put to resolve such matters within the family first involving elders and other concerned. Show Less >>
